Frankly, my dear, it’s tax time.

As Scarlett O’Hara famously observed in Gone with the Wind, “Death and taxes and childbirth! There’s never any convenient time for any of them!”
That may be true, but it doesn’t change the fact that at least two of those things are guaranteed to come around (one of them annually).
I’ve spent hours this week sequestered with my financial paperwork from 2017, getting everything organized so I’ll be sure to meet this year’s April 17 filing deadline. While taking occasional breaks, I found some writer-specific tax resources that I thought might be helpful. Here they are, in no particular order:
A tax guide for freelance writers
An article  that explains how to figure out if your writing is a hobby or a business
An article about some of the tax basics writers should know about.
This article covers some ideas for tax deductions that writers might not always remember they can claim.
Finally, I really like this collection of tax-related tidbits for artists and writers.
Happy itemizing, everyone!
